Types of Full Moon Meditation

For of those of you who have never worked with the energy of the Full Moon, may be wondering how does one draw upon its energies? Well, I have a simple method I use which involves visualization. After I offer this meditation, I will also give an alternative method for drawing Full Moon energies to you that involve being outdoors.

Full Moon Meditation (Indoors)

Sit comfortably in a chair or on the floor in a position of your choice. Take a few deep breaths to help clear your mind and open your heart and spirit. Visualize a huge bright Full Moon hanging above you in the sky. It is shining so bright, so beautiful. The light of the Full Moon is shining all around you, all over you, and within you. Allow yourself to be fully engulfed by the moon's light. Allow yourself to be showered by its positive energies. Once you have taken all the energy you need from the Full Moon, start to think about your intention. Think about the true desire of your heart in this moment or at this point in your life. Focus on your desire or your intention. See it in front of you. Begin to send the Full Moon's energy from within you to your desire. Fill it up or surround it with the moon's light until you are both shining bright. Hold this image for as long as wish to do so.

This meditation helps to recharge your spiritual battery because it reminds you of your own inner power and inner strength to draw towards you the desires of your heart and to heal yourself. You can tweak this meditation to fit any need you may have at the time. And this is a good way to draw upon the energy of the Full Moon at any time during the month, not just when there's a Full Moon outside. Now, below is another meditation you can use during the night of a Full Moon.

Full Moon Meditation (Outdoors)

On the night of the Full Moon, go outside and stand where you can see the Full Moon in the sky clearly. Sit down or stand in a comfortable way as this may take several minutes. Gaze at the Full Moon taking in all its beauty, light, and imagery. Smile at the Full Moon. Allow its light to bathe you. Now, start to talk to the moon seeing it as God or Goddess or whomever you worship or work with during your spiritual practice. Tell the desires of your heart to the moon. Draw the light down mentally into your crown center and your heart center for healing. See yourself in the moon. Smile. Laugh. Cry. Open up and share. Feel yourself as stronger in every way. Do this for as long as you wish. *If weather does not permit you to go outside for this meditation, find a window in your home from where you can get a clear look at the moon. If not, use the Full Moon Indoors Meditation instead.*

So, the next time you're feeling out of balance, a little drained, or in need of extra spiritual strength, draw upon the energy of the Full Moon realizing you are one with all things in the Universe and the energy shared is from the One who energizes all of us.
